Kids bike sizing refers to the bike’s wheel size. The most common sizes are in the size chart below with the typical age range, but we recommend bringing your little one by the shop to sit on a few bikes if you aren’t sure. We even have balance bikes (bikes with no pedals) to get the littlest riders started on the right foot. Department stores carry other sizes, but you may have trouble finding replacement tires and tubes as these sizes are less common.

Grow-Up Program for Kids

For parents who want a high-quality, safe bike for their kids, but don’t want to buy a full-priced bike for every growth spurt.

Here’s how it works:

  1. Buy any new kids’ bike at Johnny Velo Bikes.

  2. Bring it back within two years.

  3. Pick out a new bike and we’ll credit you 50% of the purchase price of the first bike toward the new one.

  4. Lather, rinse, repeat, until your little one isn’t so little. You can even use the program toward the purchase of their first adult bike.

Now for the fun part! Let's look for the right bike for your little one.
